Cell City
All living organisms are made up of cells, from the single-celled bacteria to ourselves with up to a whopping 40 trillion cells!
Cells are described as the building blocks of life, but not all cells look alike. For example, the neuron cells in our spinal column that stretch for up to one metre look very different to the packed epithelial cells that line the insides of our organs. Whilst these cells may look very different the basic machinery inside them is remarkedly similar.
A cell, with all its this basic machinery, could be compared to some of the important features you would find in your city or town…
